(Things You've Never Seen)

"You're Rin?" Moichi asks, almost uncertainly, because yes, it's really true, they are twins, and they sound the same, almost. There's a pause full of possibility as Moichi realises he is deciding whether to lie or not in response.
Something rises up in the back of his throat, a lump, bile, something. They aren't alike at all, not in personality, if this is the way things are going to go already.
"Yes," Rin says finally, and Moichi can even imagine the sort of smug smile that accompanies that tone of voice; perhaps Rin nodded before he answered, knowing full well Moichi couldn't see it. "And you're Nagae Moichi."
Moichi affirms with a short word, and keeps to himself the knowledge that had it been Sei, he never could've spoken the words in the same manner as Rin; with a complete lack of affection.

What is worse, perhaps, than knowing Sei is intrigued by the prospect, even now, after knowing over time that he had a brother, a twin, and having met Rin and spoken to him, is Moichi knowing that he himself is intrigued also. Explanation for Sei's compulsion is unnecessary; they are twins. The word seems to go deeper than sense. But to Moichi, Rin is nothing, no-one at all. But for what he is to Sei.
Which of course now makes him ever so important to Moichi.

"Do you look very alike?" Moichi asks, and doesn't know why. The question will have little real meaning to him, after all. But the pause is serious instead of mocking; punctuated by the imaginary sound of cogs turning as Sei debates how to answer.
"Not really," Rin interjects before Sei can open his mouth properly to answer, "my brother insists on wearing his hair in such an unflattering way. You can sure tell he's a Professor!"
"-But otherwise, without my glasses, yes, we're pretty much alike," Sei affirms. He lowers his eyes because he knows Rin is watching him out of the corner of his eye. He just can't tell if it is a smirk on Rin's face, a genuine smile, or something else entirely, and it's something he doesn't wish to find out.
