Gokusen, just a bit of Sawada-Shinohara-Yankumi babble. Written a little while ago, just before I started the Noda-Fujiyama epic I think.

Sawada isn't used to being in this kind of position, feeling like he owes someone. With his friends he is the one ready to do anything for them, whether they know it or not, and so if anyone were actually keeping track, they would probably find that they all owed Shin rather a lot.
Though Sawada really isn't the kind to be keeping score.
As for Yankumi, now she's someone they all owe a hell of a lot to, but Shin knows that to acknowledge any of what she has done for them with presents or favours would completely belittle everything. Yankumi's words and actions always come from her heart. She never went in looking for praise, and never turned and ran or took the easy way out when she realised it just wasn't going to be that simple. The things she teaches them outside the classroom are like gifts, and they all know the way to show their appreciation is to listen, and learn, and actually live in a way they can be proud of. Because then Yankumi can be proud of them too.
No, the problem he has is not with his friends or with Yankumi. It's the guy he likes to overdramatically refer to in his head as his Mortal Enemy. Sawada cannot figure out Shinohara-san for the life of him. He has all three of the women at school fawning over him - even Yankumi - and he acts as though nothing is unusual. Either he's oblivious, or he's just playing them off against one another to see who wins.
