This is for surlykitty who requested a Ramayana FST. Personally, I think that the Mahabharata is the more interesting of the two epics, but let's see how this goes ( Read more... )

An interesting set of tracks to choose for this epic! Thank you very much.
Of course, the next question is: are you going to do the Mahabharata too? ^_^

Ahahaha, can't! It's the end of the month! :( I'm glad you liked it, though! Someone else did a Mahabharata FST....sometime recently? In the past month or two?

Well, in an aspect, no wonder some people denied the epilogue, after such deed and still able to go to heavens. This made him really a man and not an idealized god though.

Downloaded all, thanks.

Holy cow. Thanks for the tracks and summary! Though it's kind of depressing that the only comeuppance available to a virtuous wife is to be swallowed up by the earth, I think it's nice that there's this acknowledgment in the text that she suffered unjustly. Rama's in-text realization that he's reached the end of his story is also pretty cool.

Aw man, this brings back memories of Sanskrit class. We only got to translating the baby version of the Ramayana, and only got up to Rama meeting Sita, but still. All of these tracks look so cool! ♥

Wow thanks! The summary is very interesting, as I did a short play last term about the bit where Rama helps the monkey king. In that story, Hanuman actually turns out to be a long lost son of Rama. I'm not sure if that's true or not, as I never did any deeper research about the accuracy of the novel we adapted the play from. Furthermore... Rama(from the summary) is just a big jerk. How did he become a god? My Culture & Society class teacher told us that the origins of the Indian custom to bury the widow alive with the husband was actually this story of Sita having to prove herself faithful to Rama. This is an awesome story and really interesting to see how it affected real life. Cheers! :D
