I'm trying to decide between Carolina Square (off Dewey and Virginia St) and Colony Club/High Point. I'm most suspicious of High Point since that's in a fairly shit area of town, does anyone here live at either of these places? What do you think?

I lived at Carolina Square for a year (Aug 2008-July 2009).
I don't have many complaints.
The area is good. If you get a unit facing the lake/McDonald's then it can get kind of loud at night, but if you're facing the pool or other parking lot, it's not a problem.
I did have a freak accident mold issue, but I wouldn't tell you not to live there because of that (I do have some gnarly pics of it, though).

The proximity to campus is enough to make the place worth it.
I'd tell you the management was good, but it's probably changed since I moved out last July. It changed three times while I was living there.

Lived at Carolina Square for a year. Place filled up with roaches about halfway through my lease when they evicted a couple of deadbeats (which are actually about half the people who live there), and it took the management two weeks to get an exterminator to come out. But that's ok, since the place changes hands every few months, you'll never have to deal with any particular bad manager for too long ( ... )

student ghetto > Frenchtown

just sayin. I would NEVER live in Frenchtown. One of my friends was actually attacked and held at gunpoint just while walking his dog back in 2005- this was off Georgia and Dewey.
Student ghetto isnt a terrible area to be in, especially if you're a ..umm..student.

High Point and Colony Club suck, the parking sucks, the buildings are old and moldy, the roof leaks if you live on the top floor, and the management is horrible. It's noisy, and people break into your car and steal bikes. I lived their for a year when management changed and it was so bad I couldn't wait to leave.
