Character-Types That Can't Be Transferred Into
Students. Students need to be applied as students; a Teacher or Townie can't ever become a student, even if something happens and they get physically de-aged. (You can, however, apply for a student version of a character whose adult version you - or someone else - previously played. This would be a new, full application for a completely different person, from a different timeline, with no memories from the previous on-island character.)

Transferring to Alumni/Expatriate
No application required.
Alumni: Senior student characters who participate in graduation will automatically become alumni; we'll keep track of that. After graduation, just request membership in the fh_alumni community by attempting to join it, and you'll be added by the maintainers.
Expatriates: If your non-graduate character has been on-island for a year and is now leaving the island, just let us know by sending an e-mail to administration at fandomhigh dot net. Indicate that they're eligible for Expatriate status and we'll make the necessary changes to the friending list! As with Alumni, at the time your Ex-pat character leaves the island, just request membership in fh_alumni via joining though LJ, and the maintainers will add you.

Transferring from Teacher to Townie or Townie to Teacher
Limited application required.
Townies are welcome to apply to be teachers when Teacher apps are open, if you have a viable class idea for them. Teachers are welcome to shift into a Townie position at the end of a school term, if you have a job for them to move into.
For consistency, we need you to fill out the application form for these transfers, but the only sections of the application that you need to fill out are the information at the top (player name through character age) and then the section marked "Townies Only" or "Teachers Only" to let us know the planned job/class, as appropriate.

Bringing Alumni and Ex-pats Back to Live on the Island (Short Term)
Limited application required.
If you want to bring your Alumni or Expatriate character back for just a semester (or both summer terms) to be a Teacher or Townie, the only sections of the application that you need to fill out are the information at the top (player name through character age) and then the appropriate section for what you intend to have your character do: the sections marked "Teachers Only" or "Townies Only."

Bringing Alumni and Ex-pats Back to Live on the Island (Long Term)
Full application required.
If you have an Alumni or Expatriate character that you would like to bring back to Fandom on a permanent basis to teach or to be a Townie, we no longer require characters to have gone through significant, life-altering events while away, but we do need to know what's happened to them in the time they've been gone.
You'll need to fill out the full application again, canon/character description and writing sample included. You're welcome to use information from previous applications that still applies, and only update the parts that have changed; the writing sample should show the character in their proposed new position on-island.

Just-graduated Alumni Who'd Like to Stay on as Townies
Limited application required.
The only sections of the application that you need to fill out are the information at the top (player name through character age) and then the section marked "Townies Only" to let us know what you're planning to do with the character and why they're staying on the island. They'll still need a viable job, just like any new townie would.

Just-graduated Alumni Who'd Like to Stay on as Teachers
Limited application required.
This would be a much more rare situation, and most likely we'd be looking for grads who already had teaching experience in some form: the de-aged adult types, or those who'd been acting as adults for years despite their chronological age. Generally, we'd like grads to spend some time off-island getting to the point where it would be reasonable for the IC admins to consider hiring them in a position of authority.
If you've got a character you think would work as a direct transfer into teacherdom, though, fill out the top part of the application (player name through character age), then the section marked "Teachers Only" to describe the class, and then use "Why Is Your Character Coming To Fandom" to explain your reasoning behind transferring them straight to a teacher position. (This would include things like planned time-jumps where you immediately bring back an older character, as Anakin Skywalker did.)
