Once again I am passing up an opportunity to TRAVEL! Because. Because; flying; smokers; food allergies; body issues. I'm aware that it's life-affirming and you can always make the best of things and all the rest but; (see above). It's a drag for others as well. Yes I'd enjoy snorkelling in Pristine Clear Waters (off Honduras?). So not worth the ( Read more... )

It astounds me that any sort of candy would have paprika in it. It just goes to show how careful one must be.

Some things that I have learned from so much traveling:
- A driving trip through simple towns and eating cobbled-together meals from your basic grocery are just as rewarding and meaningful--and produce just as wonderful memories--as travel through Europe.
- Nothing is going to make me enjoy flying.
- Life is about enjoying the moment that you are in, wheresoever that may be.
- People matter most.

Rejection sucks. But it takes a lot of them to make one acceptance. Rejections are more time to work on things.

I have been loving your photos of the big waves, very much.

Chocolate has paprika and potato starch? Why? I mean... damn it. That sucks bad.

The cute barista gets all coy because you're a cute, funny man and she likes when you pop in to the store. I mean, that was an easy one to solve. ;-)

I'd assume the quickest way to say "you're wonderful, please don't any more" is exactly the way you said it - with the reason. "I love these, but damn it, they use paprika, and that gives me joint pain!"

Giving a reason removes any chance of it being a rebuff. However, keep in mind that you could also accept the gift and gush over how glad you are to receive it, and then give them away. I send some easter candy to a friend each year - I sometimes imagine her as a 70 year-old giving the candy to children, but still getting a warm glow from being remembered.
