Surgeons

Can anyone recommend one? I'm thinking of top surgery here and do not know of which surgeon to go with... so recommendations would be appreciated. Like, a lot. I'm really scared of scarring because I already have a lot of scars (I know there will be scarring but I just want it to be minimal), and obviously I want the surgeons/staff to be nice, so. Where are you in NY? Are you looking for a surgeon in NYC? Are you aiming for peri, DI, t-anchor? Do you have ins/are you looking to get surgery covered by it? If not, even with travel expenses, going out of state will probably -- and by probably, I mean definitely -- be cheaper. There are a lot of skilled surgeons out there. You need to narrow down what it is you're looking for.

Erp. I have family all over NY; I actually live in Israel but I want to do it in NY because I wouldn't have to pay for a hotel or anything to stay in, regardless of where the surgeon is (NYC/state). It would be DI. I don't have insurance (since I live in Israel).

How much cheaper would it be out of state, considering I'd have to pay for a place to sleep there, and not here? :\

As far as I know, a few the surgeons that operate in NYC will only accept insurance (not out of pocket), and the ones that accept out of pocket are likely going to cost around 10,000USD. Look into it yourself though, because I'm not 10% certain about that. If you go to the ftmsurgery group on Yahoo, there are 3 or 4 surgeons in NYC listed there. I had my surgery with Dr. Medalie in Cleveland (because he's closest to where I live in Western NY, about a 5 hour drive), and I paid $5800 total for surgery, anesthesia, and operating room fees, and around $700 for hotel (5 nights) and food.

If you are paying out of pocket then going outside of NY would be a better option. If you are using insurance or if you want to stay in NY just in general then there are several options you can explore.

I have no insurance (I'm from Israel, want to stay in NY cause I have family I can stay with while recovering).
