Movie suggestions?

Oct 01, 2009 15:30

So,
I'm doing a film series for my school and I want to get some really cool Queer People of Color indie films/documentaries to show. We already showed Brother To Brother last year and while that movie's dope, it's really, really outdated. I was wondering if any folks in Blackfolk have suggestions for films.

Thanks,

The Believers looks so deep and they have a copy of it at my library so I think I'm gonna check that out for my own personal collection.

double the trouble, twice the fun by Pratibah Parmar is about being disabled and gay. she has quite a few shorts: khush, the righteous babes, warrior marks; to name a few.

and two older movies:
watermelone woman by Cheryl Dunye
black is...black ain't, another film by the genius Marlon Riggs

let us know what wind up watching and what you think of it.

One of my teachers had a copy of U People, (which is fuckin' awesome,) so I think we're gonna do that but all these other ones sound amazing as well.
