Printer, printer! Take a hint-er!

An immensely frustrating phone conversation with Dell Customer 'Care'. Leaving aside the fact that it took me half an hour and three attempts to navigate my way out of the reefs of Automated Messages and into the open seas of Actual Person On The Other End, my mission to change an aspect of my order was annoyingly abortive.

Argh )

I've come up against the Dell peopel myself, when I was ordering my laptop last summer. They all appear to be VERY stupid and annoying. Trying to explain to them that the billing address of my current account was NOT the address that I wanted the laptop to be delivered to seemed to be beyond them.

I'll have the printer though if it'll make you feel better ;)

Obviously I can spell "people". Unfortunately I can't type.

Or you can't, but have just checked it in the dictionary and want to save face.

You are a wonderfully helpful person. If it makes you feel better, the person at Lush in Oxford stared at me strangely when I took back a bath slice and showed them that they'd forgotten to charge me for it. The time it took me to pay for it seemed to last about three hours . . .

Yes, we like printers! And if you ever come to live with us, um, you'll have a *spare* printer.

Just try ringing their technical support. It usually comes down to:

Me: This machine shows symptoms of $COMPONENT having failed.
Them: Please click "Start", then "Control Panel", then...
Me: This machine runs Linux.
Them: Oh. We can't help you then.
