Hilariously bewildered

As I am still sort-of unemployed, I have to visit a company that are supposed to help me get back to work (the job centre used to do this, but it has all been privatised now).  Anyway, the interviewer this time was very, very enthusiastic ( Read more... )

If I hadn't heard other similar stories I'd have thought you were writing a fantasy story right here!
OH MY...but I have to say you had me laughing uncontrollably. Miss Lawson, can I take your writing class?

You REALLY have to continue discussing this idea?
ARGH

Come to Spain to live...they don't DO that to people here. But then they don't pay job seekers for very long either.

There's a hilarious newspaper piece to be written here. Which would be paid.

Now there's a thought...

Actually, from talking with other unemployed people, a lot of these outsourced find-you-a-job outfits are pretty incompetent, and some are downright scams. There probably is something to be written about it all.

I don't know if I could hold back the laughter. But hey, you might make a fortune.

She didn't notice your stunned look then? I wonder how they decide which outlandish idea they should subject each person to?

The outsourced companies were incompetent before when I was on job seekers and they sound worse now. The scary thing is how much they get paid for this pathetic 'service'. You clearly have a gift for writing, you had me laughing out loud, Miss Lawson :)

I don't really need to tell you how happy I am to be out of the circus do I?

When I signed on this Monday, I told the guy there about it, and he laughed, but he didn't offer any other comment. I think it is generally accepted that the whole thing is a sham. The back-to-work people (Maximus) seem very keen to either shove people into cleaning, fast food or gambling companies. If they can't manage that they try to get you to go self-employed, no matter how rubbish the ideas for self-employment are.

Sham it is, that's for sure. I really feel for everyone in the system now. It was bad enough when I was in it but in two years it's got much worse.
