Social life

Up late and planning to do nothing whatsoever on this Bank Holiday, apart from perhaps a little light tidying, and wishing you all a very happy (slightly belated) Easter.

The g-d’s friend Greta is off back to Bristol today (if she gets up in time), and I can get back to my solitary life. She turned out to be a much easier flatmate than I had feared ( Read more... )

The rabbit is creepy but I love it.
:D

Hmmmmm...maybe I should come visit you since you'll be solitary again.
;)
I thought the boyfriend was African? Or am I confused?

The really weird thing about that rabbit is that the glass mould (bought years ago in a charity shop) is rather pretty. It's just that the jellies it produces are somehow terrifying. Maybe it's haunted...

The cake was really good, and looked very pretty, but of course I forgot to get a picture of that.

No, that's my niece's boyfriend Fumbi. They're in Portugal for the weekend, oddly enough.

Oh, I love seeing the rabbit as it instantly brought back childhood memories of my mum getting out the glass mould and making rabbit blancmanche, milk jelly and jelly. I have just looked on ebay for a mould and there are several original ones. I think my grandchildren would love rabbit shaped jelly :)

Glad you had a great time with g-d et al. The cake sounds amazing!

I found my rabbit mould in a charity shop. I can't understand why they found it so creepy, but I was feeding it to adults who hadn't seen one before - little kids would love it! I made a milk jelly with raspberry jelly, evaporated milk, fresh raspberries and a bit of cream all whizzed up with a stick blender, and I added an extra leaf of gelatin to make it a bit firmer, I also wiped the inside of the mould with a cloth dipped in oil, so that it would come out properly.

The cake recipe is delicious, and very easy to make (using the trusty stick blender again). I do like the sort of cake recipe where you just lob everything in a bowl and mix it up, rather than having to cream butter or fold in egg whites.

Oh, I must try the charity shops for a mould, good idea. Your milk jelly sounds delicious, I must try that. Raspberry is the best flavour imo :)

Stick blenders are useful, I love mine :)
