Leonard laughs a little, feeling at ease with the situation he leans down and kisses Jim. "Ya know...meeting her is gonna be a big step Jim. You sure you're ready for that?" He had to ask, as much as he loves Jim, he has to put Jo first.

"We'll leave her in school, but we should go in when we drop her off tomorrow, let them know that this is her last week." Jim said, moving onto the bed next to Bones ( ... )

"She said she hopes you're not as perfect as you seem." He laughs a little, "I told her not to worry, she also seemed a little worried about how quickly Jo has taken to you, considering she ignored Clay, to be honest I am a little worried too, not that she shouldn't love you Jim, but she just met you, 'm not sure if she fully understands what's going on. it's gonna be a big change for her." He sighs a little, "I am not saying it will happen, but we should be ready for a freak out at lest a small one." He says leaning in a giving Jim a small kiss, "She loves you the way I do." He adds "But she's six, we need to figure out how to talk to her about this so she really understands what's going on."

He pauses for a moment putting an arm around Jim. "Maybe I just worry to much."

"I'm not." Jim said. "I'm allergic to every damn thing and I have a habit of jumping into dumb situations and it always seems like I just can't be diplomatic because every "diplomatic" mission turns into a fight. But I'm guessing you didn't tell her that."

He turned, flipping off the bedside lamp before slipping into bed. "I don't know what to tell her, Bones. I don't have much experience with telling kids how best to accept new...boyfriends of fathers. I just remember my mom met Frank, married him and brought him home and I was just expected to listen to him. And I definitely don't suggest that..." he lay back down, tucking his head under Leonard's. "Maybe you do worry too much."

"There was a change of plans." Jim said. "She'll be coming to live aboard the Enterprise, with Doctor McCoy and myself instead. We wanted to go ahead and take her out at the end of this quarter. The Enterprise's elementary second semester doesn't starting until the end of the month, when our shore leave is over, but we didn't want her to start getting material here and have to leave in the middle." He explained.

"The two of you... will raise a child on a starship." She says coldly this was obviously a women cut from the same cloth as Joce. "What happened to Mrs. Thredway? I thought she had custody of Joanna, I am the one who wrote Joanna's letter of recommendation for the boarding school, some proper gidance will do the child good."

"Yes we will." Leonard nods, his anger level rising a bit...he had to bite his lip to say anything more.

"As a matter of fact, Mrs. Logan," Jim sits straight up, switching into Captain mode. "Leonard and I agree with you. Joanna does need structure, which is why we think she should come with us. My senior staff and I, Dr. McCoy included, personally campaigned to make the USS Enterprise family friendly, which not only includes family quarters but block schedule educational classes as well. I'd be glad to give my the names of my teachers if you'd like to check their credentials, as they're all a matter of public record."

Leonard arches an eyebrow at the women, "It will also be more healthy for Jo, Mrs. Logan i respect you as an educator, but it's not healthy for a child at Jo's age to be taken away from family, a child needs family to set boundaries for her not strangers." He gives the women her patented you are an idiot glare that is normally reserved for Jim and Spock when they come back hurt from an away mission.

"Consider this your new notice Jo's last day will be friday. Is there any paper work I need to sign?"

"Yeah, we're good." Jim said as he carried the last bag downstairs. Jo was on his back, arms around his neck and legs around his waist. One of his arms was curled up under one of her legs to hold her up. "Jo, go tell Gran goodbye." he said, leaning back to let her down.

Jo crawls down off Jim's back, and runs over to her Gran who is standing by the front door.

"Bye Gran, I love you!" She says hugging her grandmother.

"Bye baby girl, you have fun with your daddy and Jim, keep them out of trouble for me okay?"

"I will Gran." She smiles walking over and taking her daddy's hand tries to drag him from the house.

"Hang on a minute kiddo," He says walking over to his mother, "Bye Ma, I'll see you when we get back." He says giving her a kiss on the cheek He checks the travel bag one last time, making sure they have a change of cloths for Jo, and a few snacks and some coloring books before he takes Jo to load her in the car.

"Come on Popsicle it's time to go."

"Thanks so much for having us, Mrs. McCoy." Jim tilts an imaginary hat towards the woman, and is surprised when she reciprocates with a kiss.

"You be safe, ya hear? You get yourself hurt out there and I'll come up there and finish the job."

He just laughed and nodded. "Yes ma'am." before turning to Joanna's call. "Coming Jo." he said, hugging Eleanor once more and leaving the house.

[ Leonard smiles at Jim and tosses him the keys.]

"You drive." He says before turning to help Jo buckle herself into her booster seat. Even though he knows she can do it herself it's a long drive and he'd rather be safe then sorry. He kisses the top of her head, and climbs into the passenger seat.

"How long is is it gonna take to get there Popsicle?" She asks trying to lean out the window to call to him.

Jim just nodded. "I understand all that, baby...and I know you feel like if you'd stayed-...but the man I met on that shuttle would have done her no good, no matter how much you loved her, you just didn't have enough of yourself left to raise her the way she deserved..."

He leaned over to kiss Jo's ear. "But you're better now, and we're going to give her all the help she needs, and love her and take care of her the way she deserves and who knows? She may not even remember this in 10 or 15 years..."

Tugging Bones a little closer, he kissed him back. "I know you do, baby. And I love you and we both love Jo and she's knows it, deep down...we just have to make sure we never give each other reason to think otherwise."

Leonard sighs and leans against Jim giving him another brief kiss on his jaw. Looking at Jo for a moment.

"I just don't understand why she freaked out tonight, we haven't given her any reason to think we are going to leave her." he says softly.

"But I guess a freakout was bound to happen sooner or later." He sighs a little. "Hopefully she feels better in the morning."

He stretches out a little on the bed, and smiles a little at Jim. "You are right though, things will get better."

"There's no rhyme or rythym to kids, baby." Jim soothed. "Just try and get some sleep and we'll have a nice long talk with her tomorrow. Okay?"
