Leonard has a slightly nervous smile as he drives Spock up to the old house,  it's a humid day but the sky is clear, no one has been in the house in about ten years so there will need to be some cleaning done but that shouldn't take too long. "Well this is it."

Spock had been pretty attentive, even wide eyed during the trip to Georgia. He had admitted to not going out of the city of San Francisco often, if ever. Even when he had, there hadn't been growth like this there, not from what Spock had encountered. The towns here were spread out, with numerous rural houses and dirt roads, back roads.

As they pulled up to the house, Spock shifted on his seat in the truck, a truck that rocked and squeaked a little more than he'd like, but got them to their destination. "This is the home you speak so highly of?" He asked, looking over it as they pulled up to it.

"Yeah this is it." He smiles stopping the truck and pulling the key from the ignition slipping it in his pocket. "No ones been in there for awhile, Sam's stationed off planet at the moment, so it's gonna need some cleaning." He says looking at Spock. "Just a good dusting and taking sheets off the furniture and taking the storm shutters off."

"Perhaps splitting the work will make it go twice as fast." He opened the door and got out of the truck, reaching over into the bed to pull out some of the bags. They'd gone grocery shopping to sustain themselves with enough food for the leave since there probably wasn't anything good left in the house. "I will remove the sheets and stock the pantries if you wish to work on the storm shutters."

"Sounds like a plan." He says hopping out of the truck and picking their duffle bags out of the back of the truck, and starting the walk to the house.

Leonard opens the the front door and sets the bags down by the stairs and heads down to the basement to pull out the tool box to get the windows off.

As the lights flicker, Spock stiffens a little more before the house finally goes completely dark around them. "I believe that idea is now out of the question, Leonard." He said, a different tone to his voice. Maybe he was getting emotionally compromised at this.

"Spock it's just a power outage because of the storm, the lights will be back out soon. Come on lets go build a fire in the fire place and well make some vegetable over the fire for you and some chicken noodle for me." He said taking Spock's hand and leading him into the living room and toward the fire place.

"I realize that. I am focused more on the noises of the storm outside of the house." He explained in a sort of huffed tone before following Leonard downstairs to the living room. "The interior needs cleaning. Did you plan on us doing that while we were--" He flinched as he sat down, but more at the clap of lightening that flashed and the thunder that followed after it before Spock settled. "--visiting your house for the duration of shore leave?"

"We just need to dust." He said with a shrug, "No ones lived here in about 10 or 15 years, Sam got assigned to Star-base 16, and I was in med school at Old Miss and a few other things." Leonard says loading the fire place up with wood from the pile next to it, it takes a few minutes but he gets a fire going, which helps light the living room. "There's a box of candles in the closet, you want to grab those and I'll get the soup going?"

"The storm wont last long Spock.... and the cleaning will only take a day at the most."

"That is understandable. Is this woman your sister?" He asked, pointing to a picture of who he presumed was Samantha. It was difficult to completely make out the features due to the age of the picture and the candlelight, but he had a feeling it was her. Something about the facial structure seemed familiar.

"Yeah that's Sam. She couldn't get leave other wise you could have met her." He shrugs. "But I talk to her about once a week when I can." He says as another roll of thunder rattles the house.

"I will meet her one day, do not worry." he said, moving to shut the book just as the thunder rolled over the house. Spock stiffened where he sat on the floor, eyes wide in the dim lighting of the darkness. "Is there an estimated duration for the rest of the storm?"

"No, they can last awhile." He says putting an arm around Spock, "But if we go back downstairs and you see lighting, count the number of seconds, and that's about how far away the storm is. Should give you an idea of when it's ending."

Leonard takes Spock's hand and picks up a couple of the boardgames and leads the other man back down stairs. "Come on lets go eat."

Oh, now that makes sense. XD vulcancommander April 22 2011, 04:04:18 UTC
Spock jumped slightly at the door shutting behind them and stood by the bedside while Leonard prepared the bed. He noted the lower temperature of the room, lower than the temperature of Leonard's quarters back on the ship, but didn't say anything. He didn't want to be rude after all.

Spock moves into the bed when offered, pulling the blankets over them and moving to where he can't see the windows. Hopefully that would help.

" 'm sorry it's cold darlin' but with the power out, we can't get heat. But extra blankets and two bodies should be okay." He says wrapping his arms around Spock, as the storm rages outside. "But if you're still cold, there are more blankets."

Spock controlled a shiver that threatened to course through his body as he curled up against Leonard, making himself comfortable as they warmed up the bedding.

"I believe our body heat will suffice with the amount of bedding you have put on here." Spock looked at Leonard, a little hard to see with the pitch black scenario around them. "I am satisfied that you are not annoyed by my current behavior."

"I'm not annoyed by it Darlin' a little surprised, but not annoyed." He sighs giving Spock a brief kiss.

Spock listened intently - as he always did - and snuggled up properly to the other. The bed was warm now, and the storm had died off a little bit, with minimal lightning and thunder outside. By the time the story was finished, Spock was already dozing a bit, body starting to relax as he started to slip into full sleep against the other.

Leonard lets him self drift off to sleep, once the other man was relaxed.

The storm dies down and the next morning the sky is blue and sun is streaming in through the window.

Spock sleeps soundly for the duration of the night, opening his eyes a little after eight and shifting. Blinking the sleep out of his eyes, the Vulcan looked over the other's face and watched it for a moment, taking in the angle of his jaw, the scruff at his cheek, the mess of his hair. There was a part of him, that Human part probably, that was satisfied that Leonard was all his.

Leonard shifts a little, and rubs his eyes, slowly waking up. "Morning..." he smiles sleepily "How you feelin'?" Leonard asks wrapping an arm around Spock.
