With the revamp of the wiki comes a time for a new Hellsing crest, and so Teresa and I are introducing a competition to find the new Hellsing design!
This crest will be rolled out IC'ly by Owen and Ianto as a new image for Hellsing. Every member will receive a new badge (a patch, sewn onto a flip-cover badge holder), and it will be pretty much the best thing ever. We're planning on having them enchanted so that they both allow organization members through the enchantments that will (eventually) be updated around the house, as well as enchanted to give a modicum of protection out in the field.
So, here's the info about the contest:
WHEN: Entries are welcome from 9/4 until 11:59PM, Pacific Time, on 9/12.
WHAT: Below, you will find some basic guidelines for what we're looking for in the badge. You are allowed to send in entries in any way you want - either graphically or with a text description. This is so people who aren't Photoshop/PaintShop/Gimp/Paint/etc. savvy can still enter; simply explain what you think the badge should have on it/look like to the best of your ability. If a text entry wins, I will get in contact with you with a graphic version of your description for you to check out. :)
HOW: Make the graphic however you want! You can draw it the old fashioned way, make a vector, use the templates I've got below, write up a description - however you want. Just as long as it follows the guidelines below, it will be accepted.
THEN: Leave your badge offering as a comment to this post. ALL COMMENTS ARE SCREENED. We're planning to keep the entries secret, so that nobody knows who made what. It's more fun that way B]
AND THEN: Once the week is up, I will put up a poll containing all the various badges/ideas, and you guys will have three days to vote for them, from 9/13 to 11:59PM, Pacific Time, on 9/15.
GUIDELINES:
1. The badge must retain the same shape as it does below, and it must have some reference to Hellsing on it. An "H" or some facsimile of the name thereof is fine, as long as the badge is noticeably a Hellsing badge.
2. The badge must only use the three colors listed below: if you're drawing it on paper, the closest approximation may be used (alternatively, leave it black and white and I will fill it in for you).
3. Badge graphics must be as clean as possible, free from artifacts and sketchy lines. As you can see, the outline I've given below isn't the best, but as long as it doesn't look worse than that you're good to go :>
4. The badge must look as professional as possible. No comic sans or anything like that.
This is the shape that the badge must be in. Please do not modify it too much; cutting off some of the top, changing the top from flat to fancy lines like a cop badge, etc. is fine, but please keep the lower half in the same badge-like shape. Feel free to copy this outline into your program of choice and modify it that way; DEFINITELY FEEL FREE TO SMOOTH OUT AND EVEN OUT THE BORDER TOO IF YOU WANT. (I would've done it but I haven't worked Photoshop out enough to get it perfect XD)
These are the colors that should be used - I've given both the hex codes for them as well as given you the solid color so you can use your eyedrop tool, or simply look at the colors while drawing/writing up your badge.
Here is what the original badge looks like, for those who aren't entirely familiar with it. Feel free to keep it as close or as far to design as you want.
