Admin: Slight change in format and a question

Jul 16, 2010 14:58

With LJ's announcement of their intention to purge inactive accounts, and given the quiet of this community for the past several years, I have determined that a change in format is in order. To that end, I am opening the community to all YnM drabbles and drabble series, including crossovers, whether inspired by a challenge topic here or not. ( Read more... )

If I understand lj correctly, then community is defined as inactive if has not been updated for 24 consecutive months and has only one entry and no comments. So we should be okay regardless.

Flash fiction probably would increase the activity though, which would be nice for its own reasons. But I don't have strong opinion on that either way.

Most of my YnM fics pretty much fall under the definition of flash fiction, so I'd be delighted if the parameters were extended to include them.

I kind of like the up-to-1000 words definition, because it means less angst and compulsive resort to the wordcount thingy. But either definition totally works for me!

And, thank you for keeping an eye on this.

Amen to that: I like the challenge of 100 words or less, but sometimes a story just wants to be longer than 100 words. Sometimes a lot longer. :: Laughs::

I like the thing where when I have 100 words, neither more nor less, I can tell myself something is Officially Done and stop trying to improve it. But of course, that presupposes a concept that can be executed in 100 words, which alas, I do not often have.

I always kind of liked the specificness of the drabble challenge, but since there's no reason I can't still do that, I say whatever gets this comm going again. I've missed it. =)

Flash fiction is fine by me. Either 500 or 1000 would be fine, though perhaps the former is more in the 'drabble' spirit, as it were.
