Personally, I'd say: you only live once.. MOTORCYCLE. ;)
I'm planning on one once my roommate gets here. ;) As as way to see if you like it or not though, I'm considering taking the Motorcycle Safety Council class.. they provide a bike, and all the equipment. You just show up, get some classroom instruction, then ride around and get instructed all day. I think it's like 200 bucks, so might be a "cheap" way to see if riding a motorcycle is for you or not. Supposedly, the class will also get you an insurance discount, and in some states they'll waive the driving test for your license if you take it.
Indeed! I've taken the class twice now, and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn. I aced the written test, but always seem to mess up on the slow speed tight turns during the skills test. I think I'll go take the driving test at the DMV with my scooter (250cc, so I'm required to get a motorcycle endorsement in WA). That way, I won't have to worry about working the clutch. I'm not used to driving with a manual transmission, so it's just one more thing to have to worry about when on the road. My hubby just bought a Yamaha V-star 950. When we pay off that, I will revisit what I want to do. Maybe by that time, more manufacturers will have come out with more auto trans motorcycles.

Well yeah, it sounds like you've got it all figured out then. ;D Yeah, might not be a bad idea to get your license asap, I was thinking about doing it even before I'm "close" to getting the bike, just so that by the time I do I might be able to drive down the insurance even more. That's pretty awesome your hubz already has one, you guys are gonna be able to take some badass roadtrips. Although I guess you could do that already if you ride with him. So you're gonna get a cruiser?
