For many, I am sure hearing about upcoming Valentine's Day can be particularly confusing. I'm sure this holiday isn't as wide spread as some might think but the concept is quite simple. On February 14th, girls give chocolate to the person they are romantically interested in. Of course, chocolate can be given to others (義理チョコ) but generally the ( Read more... )

While I appreciate your opinion, I must disagree.

There is no reason for a holiday for it.

People say you should practice thankfulness and love year round but...

...many have trouble acting unilaterally. By having a holiday, people can bolster their confidence because they know they will not be the only one taking part in this.

Not really this time around. I'm so wigged out by this place, but if a girl does buy me some chocolate, you can bet I'll get her somethin' special.

What about you?

Ah, Valentine day. A day about a man massacred in a horrible, horrible fashion so gruesome that, if he even existed, it is still remembered today.

A day that then was picked up by companies in Japan, to sell more chocolate. I cannot imagine a more romantic occassion.

You could look at it like that but many holidays, especially Christian ones, have their roots in odd occasions. Easter and Christmas are two major ones.

Still, you really shouldn't forget St. Valentine's gruesome murder. Stoning and beheading is quite a way to go, isn't it? We should celebrate that!

...I do prefer milk but there is no need for you to make anything for myself.
