Have caught up on Doctor Who

I finally resumed my Doctor Who watching yesterday, but didn't have enough to say to type up proper reviews. The good thing about that is that I managed to watch the rest of the season in one go.

I'll probably rewatch from "Demons" to "It takes you away" at some point because I remember liking a couple of scenes from those episodes, but I honestly have no desire to rewatch the other eps.

That Dalek episode was so disappointing. It didn't lead to anything exciting. They needed to kill off someone The Doctor cared about to up the stakes, imo. Or at least end it on a cliffhanger, have the dalek escape - now that would have made me a bit excited about series 12. As it is, I don't even think I'll watch it. My hot take is that S11 had no right to be this bad - when a new showrunner starts, he's supposed to have a ton of exciting ideas and rejuvenate the show, not produce...whatever S11 was.

Started out well, but then got weird.
Agreed. But at least I wasn't bored. It's probably the only ep that kept me interested until the end. Well, this one and It Takes You Away.

My interpretation is that the Doctor didn't have 7 separate grandmas, but that they are incarnations.
Yep, same.

Good thing I didn't expect much from the Dalek episode, so at least plotwise there wasn't much to be disappointed about. I kinda love those little squids, so it was nice to see one in its squiddy glory again. Hmmm... upping the stakes would be a good thing, but I've had enough companion deaths for a while (even if Moffat did those in a roundabout way). Although S11 left me cold, I'll probably continue watching - I've always been bad at giving up shows that I used to love.

As an alien species and because of that loom thing (Does that still have proponents?) I guess 7 separate grandmas sounds plausible for a Timelord, but I prefer the incarnations instead. Maybe because it's the most obvious explanation.

I gave up. I already gave up last season which I don't know if I ever will finish. I saw the pilot from this season but it did not appeal to me enough to pull me back. I have gone on to other things now.

Gotham (soon ending though)
Black Mirror
Stranger Things
And the most important: The Orville! ♥♥♥
