My most sincerest thanks, Fugue. I shall strive to be as capable a greeter as those before me.

However, I will request that you remember that my name is Locke, not Lock.

My apologizes. I assume the E is silent?

It is regretful that we lose so many, especially those we trust to protect the most vulnerable among our community. It is a very important position and I am sure you will do well in it.

Correct.

It is truly tragic. Strange that those in such important, guarded positions are so easily lost.

Good good.

Strange? Hardly. Those in positions of great power are targets to those who would spread unrest and incivility. Make no mistake Locke. This is a position of utmost importance!

Happy to be aboard.

So we have Charger to show us the ropes, do we?

It is good to see men such as yourselves showing such an active concern for the community. During my illness I wasn't even aware of the untimely departures of--

[Oh what were their names again? The words pause before continuing smoothly]

--our last several Greeters. So you have my thanks.

From what I recall [Or what he looked up in the records] Charger has been a Greeter for several years now. You are in most capable hands.

[Ha.]

Yes, it's a crying shame, the loss of folks around these parts. I know you were real choked up, weren't ya Bossman?

I'm sure it'll be a real educational experience.

It is always tragic to lose good hardworking citizens.

Oh of course. I'm sure you'll learn a lot from him.

[Fugue? Orca? The same Orca whom Toushi had once called out in anger for before he got verbally jerked around? What brand of madness is this?]

Thank you for the notification, Mr Fugue. Having Greeters to welcome us to the Sphere has always been a thing of relief, so I'm glad to know the vacancies have been filled.

As for the vines, I'm afraid conventional ways have been tried to no avail.

Ah it is a comforting system and the least we can do for our newest arrivals. You're very welcome.

That is unpleasant news. But these things tend to pass yes?

It is! As for things passing, I'm sure you know more than I do, since you've stayed long enough to be in one of the most important positions in the Sphere.

Ah ha I suppose that is true. You have stayed how long in the sphere now? [Person he doesn't remember at all]

Absences just can't be helped sometimes. It's just that kind of place.

And...Charger. You're letting Charger train the new Greeters?

You don't want his love? ;_; fugue_angel March 18 2011, 03:27:06 UTC
Ah Captain. It was quite impossible for me to attend to my duties with such horrible headaches...

Yes he is one of the 'oldest' Greeters in terms of service. Is there something Unless you have a suggestion?

I hope you're feeling better, then.

He does have plenty of experience, but there are people better suited for instructing new hires.

[Two people he's never heard of before are suddenly Greeters? Now this is interesting.]

Congratulations, Locke and Orca!

And it has indeed been a while since you have written, Fugue.

It has. But luckily things have run perfectly under the careful eyes of Captain Bastet's Guards and the Watch.

Captain Vime's Watch.

You have been well?

fugue_angel March 18 2011, 03:42:35 UTC
Of course. What other Watch would I be speaking of?

I was on a leave of absence from Greeting for a while. It must have been a winter illness, since I am feeling a lot better and the days are growing longer.
