Red Borg

Did anyone who has ever watched Star Trek: TNG notice how much the Borg is supposed to represent communism/socialism? Namesly in "The Best of Both Worlds" parts one and two and "I, Borg." Who can think of a greater travesty than the ship's Caption becoming part of the Collective? And in "I, Borg," one Borg, Third of Five (no names! only numbers! they aren't really people!) is brought on the ship. He only speaks of the Collective, speaking only in "we" terms. He wants everyone to be assimilated (the horror!) so they too may be part of the collective. But then he meets Geordi, and he teaches him that individualism is so fabulous and that you can do anything you want. Like get a name!: Hugh. And then he starts speaking in terms of "I" and "me."

To be fair, "I, Borg" was after the end of the Cold War, but only by one year. I find it funny that even TV was still stressing individualism and the "me" mentality. Nothing could be more henious than everyone working together.

I really think I need to stop watching TNG in bed,
