the question: cat or dog?

My two roommates who are moving out and living together next year have been browsing around pet stores and websites to find the perfect dog for their new apartment (which I like to call the Taj Mahal). we've already had this discussion. while puppies are cute and adorable and will never stop wanting to cuddle (or licking you constantly), it takes a LOT of time and energy to train them so that they don't turn into BIG, ANNOYING dogs who don't have any discipline. cats are just so much easier; they're pretty much hands-off once you show them where their litter box is. i'd LOVE a doggy but my lifestyle right now is much too selfish for that.

You're right, I agree. But if I ever get a dog in the future, I've decided it won't be a big dog, or medium sized, but will be SMALL. Big dogs ARE too much trouble.

damn straight.

actually, right after i posted that comment, my neighbor's new puppy (which they are not allowed to have) upstairs started yelping and barking because they had left it alone. and it WOULD. NOT. STOP. so that's another thing to consider-- YOUR NEIGHBORS. cats are usually pretty quiet, or at least typically can't be heard by neighbors.
