Over this past weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) the Japanese celebrated the Buddhist festival of Obon. Many people take off work and college students return to their family homes to celebrate this festival. Incredible experience. I just love hearing about the culture, seeing the photos and videos. There was an image of floating lanterns on MSN's Bing just last week and I was curious to know what that was all about. Now I am wondering if all of those paper lanterns are littering the beach?
