Well, this was a first for me. I took a friend out shooting this week and she ended up in tears. :( Luckily it had nothing to do with my instruction or her shooting itself and she promised she would come back to the range with me again. Her dad used to be big into firearms and it is still one of his passions even though he now has health issues ( Read more... )

Oh that's too bad. Did you tell her everyone gets a funky bullet?
I had a squib load (not my gun) when I was shooting in an NRA class and later had one later that same day that didn't fire at all, and it was brand new ammo. It happens and it's alarming to say the least, but it's just one of those things.

No, I did not want to encourage her to risk shooting any more of those reloads. Bad factory ammo happens on occasion but bad reloads are all too common-- and all too dangerous. We have talked since and she wants to go shooting again so all is not lost.
