There is a good suppresor forum out there. I think it's suppressor talk or something similiar. I'm not a member yet, but plan to sign up (as soon as I find the forum again anyway).

So, you guys going to be in the state for awhile yet?

I have been doing a bit of research-- there is AR15.com's suppressor forum, Uzitalk, Silencertalk, Silencer Forum, and all the manufacturers sites to look at. Most people seem to recommend buying a .22LR silencer first because that is what they end up shooting the most and get the most (or quietest) bang for the buck. I am only beginning to look-- there is a lot more to find out about first.

We don't know what we are going to do yet in regards to staying or going... we have the advantage of forestmaster being able to travel to Texas for the next month and work part time down there and see how she likes it down there, but there are other options up here, too. We aren't going to do anything hasty, but we are keeping our options open. Either way, it looks like suppressor is going to be in our future. ;)

what are you looking to suppress?

Decide caliber first, then determine the difficulty in threading barrels or finding threaded barrels. THEN start looking for specific cans in the calibers your looking for.

FYI, I'm an SOT, and while I don't do a lot with it, I've been playing with Cans for a while now.

the biggest issue with threading the Ruger handguns is moving the front sight. If you don't mind running a red dot instead of irons, it becomes much easier..

the 10/22 is easy as hell. I have zero idea about the 96/22.

I've heard lots of good things about the Silencer Co's Sparrow. I love the double tube design, but I haven't picked one up myself yet.

We had a website, but when we got our SOT we nuked it oddly enough. Right now we are just slow rolling, mainly interested in doing suppressors actually, but it's purely a side project for my buddy and I.

I have some crazy ideas floating around, including going through all the work to suppress a S&W 325 PD :)
