This is really early. First time doing a cosplay of this magnitude! Compared to my others this will truly be my best (if everything works out right) and most detailed as well!
For Colossalcon 9 which takes place every June, it's at the Kalahari again this year so I'm happy. Hopefully everything will go as planned this year. I'll go with Cat and maybe Spazzy and my grandparents. My grandpa seems really interested to see the idiots prance by he couldn't stop talking about it when we got home haha. It'll be a year then and hopefully in those monthes my grandma will stay cancer-free so she can enjoy the con. The Kalahari is such a pretty place I would have liked her to see it this year.
But enough of that, I'll be chronicling my cosplay progress of The Phantasmal Girl: Terra Branford from Final Fantasy 6 for as long as it takes or even until the con starts once again. I'm planning on
I hope to find some cheap dumb things at the local halloween mania thing. I'll mainly be looking for a Scimitar but I'm secretly hoping to make one myself. It'll be my first time working with acrylic paint, paper clay, and foamie among other crafts. I've never made a weapon before, nor crafted anything so we'll see how it turns out, eheh.
I've decided to make the
Dissidia version and using
Amano's old work along with some references from the old PSX CG model.
In all it's going to have Dissidia's spiky boots, various scarves, jewels, jewelery and the PSX's hair clip with the beads and ribbons from Dissidia and finally the beautiful cape that I adore.
I'm only using Dissidia's version because it has a wide variety of sources and if i need different poses or angles i can just look up the videos on youtube. XP I don't have the game yet, so sad. So much easier than the impossible sprite version. More flashy too, yay.
Down to buisness!
The Dress:
Will be made from maybe satin or other nice material. I don't think paint will adhere well to satin so when we go to the fabric store we shall see what they have to offer. If all else fails I'll use a pillowcase, hah! Whatever material used for the dress will be used for the arm covers and shoes.
Acrylic paint will be used for the flower patterns on the dress, arms and boots.
White trim along the top of the arms and bust of the dress. Gold trim along the bottom of the dress and arms as well.
The Middle:
i have a few scarves I can use but i'm hoping to use scraps of fabric for the others to make it more accurate. I will have a belt underneathe that I'll secure the scarves to and then if I find A nice enough brooch I will somehow pin that down so the scarves are secure and sandwiched in between.
If all goes well and I end up making the Scimitar that will be placed there as well without the sheathe and attached somehow. a pink and purple scarf can and probably will cover that so that takes care of that.
The Bottom:
White tights painted with more acrylic in blotchy flower patterns! The bottom of the dress has a fringe I'm not sure if i will bother with
The Shoes:
My base shoes are deep red ankle boots that come to a lovely two inch point. I'm hoping to make a boot cover for them to make them the same as the dress + arms as previously mentioned. I'll do the same flower pattern with paint then with gold maybe metallic cloth, I'll finish off the sides and down the middle, adding the little loops. I'll have to see how i'm going to do them. These small parts of the outfit seem to be the hardest.
Accessories:
Terra has so many accessories. First, her hair.
Her hairclip is a red with gold trim cylindrical clip from the PSX. I'm not sure if I should make it with some sort of clay or find one but I'll somehow wrap that around my hair clip on in I'm getting, glue some green, red and yellow jewels onto it and viola. For the finale five lavender ribbons painted their tips with gold paint.
Next is her 'crown'. I'll find some way to make this out of craft foam. It reminds me a lot of gold armor so I'll do something with it similar. The internet has wonderful tutorials. Now for the jewelery part. with some metal wires/rings i'll pierce the tips of the crown have have my danglies come down. I might make my own beads since it's near impossible to find an beads I want that are the right size shape and color. Sculptey and paint will hopefully work for them.
My favorite piece now
The Cape:
I'm using a drapery as a cape. It's sheer and the right size so all I need to do is dye it. Orange, pink and purple. Maybe like a tiedye hah. at least i have two of them if I mess up one~ I'm not sure how to make the colors blend but I'll get to that when I get to it! Securing the cape around my neck will be more beads. I still need to figure out how to keep it in place but thats another story. When it's dyed I'll have to paint more flower blobs on the bottom~
The Scimitar:
I had a good idea about this earlier.
Cardboard or posterboard will have to be the base and paperclay can be used to sculpt the hilt. I wonder how I'll make the pommel and guard...ahh
The blade is curved so I'll also have to look up how to make a blade out of material. But anyhoo I'll paint it with more acrylic and spray paint mettalic silver on it. Which reminds me I need a lacquer for all of these.
And those are all my supplies i need! I apologize for the bottom. It's 7am and I'm dead tired. I'll update when anything new comes up about the cosplay~
