FANIME 2010 CON REPORT!
Fanime 2010 con report yaaay~~
Day 0: ...ahahaha. I didn't go. adulbae and some other friends from school, Gina and Katrina, drove up that evening. I sent my luggage along with them, but I had a choir concert so I was stuck at school until like 10pm. After that, I hung out with bluestripehead at a friend's birthday, had some sushi and some Malibu, and then proceeded to fail at going to sleep early. Yep. Go me.
Day 1: I woke up bright and early at like 9am, packed the rest of my stuff in my carry-on bag for the plane, and then ran around Westwood trying to find the LAX Flyaway shuttle. The stupid thing was tucked away behind some parking structure... anyway, long story short, I got on the shuttle, it took me to the plane, and the plane took me to San Jose! There, Gina and Katrina picked me up and we went to Gina's hotel room at the Sheraton, where I was to room that night.
By time I got there though, I didn't even feel like cosplaying and certainly not like binding, so I ended up wearing a cute skirt and corset in some half-assed attempt at lolita fashion. adulbae joined me in this venture, and we wandered around for a while, using the non-cosplay times to check out the Artist's Alley and Dealer Hall in more comfortable fashion. Ryoko and Yami were there with there amazing art and I bought adorable Pokemon stickers~ We also bothered Gina at her art table and stuff like that. I was kinda surprised, but we even got asked for a few pictures. Hm. Either way, we took some ourselves as well, and when Gina was done with her art stuff, we went and had a birthday party for Katrina at the delicious European pastry shop because it was Katrina's 21st birthday~~!
After all that, Gina and Adulbae had a bunch of cosplay to work on, so I was helping them a bit and our other hotel roommate-people with their wigs. And I got no sleep again... for about the 5th night in a row. Oh well, right? >> In any case, I was just so happy to be at Fanime, I didn't even care. I ignored school all weekend and it was amazing!
Day 2: Pandora Hearts and Durarara!! day~ First, Adulbae and I did Pandora Hearts earlier in the day and wandered around the con for a while. I split up from her to go see a bunch of people I knew since I kept running into acquaintances at the con and it was great to catch up! I saw onyoukai in his Joshua and we chatted for a while, which was nice. After that, I met back up with Adulbae and bluestripehead to do a little Pandora Hearts photoshoot in the Saint Claire, which was the perfect setting for PH photos.
Aaaafter that, we changed into our new Durarara!! cosplay to join bluestripehead and Gina in their Celty and Harima Mika. I did Shizuo, and it was really fun. My plastic cigarette was, for some reason, mint-flavored, and it was rather amusing. Everyone wanted to go to Masquerade, but I only ended up staying for two or three skits because my head hurt and I was strangely sniffly, like allergies or something, even though I... don't have allergies. I don't know. Either way, I went off on my own for a while on a quest for cold medicine, finally found that and got a cup of coffee, and hung around the con center until the others came back. After that, we went to IHOP for noms and then had an EPIC photoshoot in a parking garage~ I needed stuff to lift over my head and be all angry and Shizuo-like, so I found a shopping cart, with which I chased Izaya (Adulbae) around the parking garage. Good times.
Later, we changed back into cute (girl's) clothes and went to the rave while Adulbae went porning with her friends in the hentai and yaoi rooms. lol. When we got back from the rave, bluestripehead went to her hotel room and Katrina and I went back to our own (oh, and we'd moved to the Fairmont) room and had a mini bathroom party, soaking our sore feet in the tub while we watched Durarara!! until Adulbae & co. came back.
Day 3: Avatar day! Zuko takes such a long time to put on, I didn't bother wearing anything else that day. On the plus side though, my new Ben Nye make-up kit is amazing! The scar wax is seriously awesome!! It really cut down on scar-texturizing time too. <3! Katrina cosplayed Fire Nation Katara and (after her TWEWY group, in which she was Rhyme) Adulbae cosplayed Mai. We did some photoshoots with the ever-amazing and wonderful Sojian and then went to the Black & White Ball. Apparently, Zuko and Mai waltzing together was popular with the fangirls lol. A few girls wanted to dance with me too... It was really cute, actually. I was flattered... .///. Overall, it was a really good day!
Oh, oh! Aaaand I went to the Dealer's Hall and found the most adorable Mello chibi Nendroid figurine!!!!! I was sooo happy! And a Joshua wig at these new wig sellers' booth. You should check them out~ Their wigs were really nice, all skin-top with heat-resistant fibers. They also said they did custom orders, and any exchanges or refunds are free. They're located in NorCal too, so shipping would be cheap. Anyway, here! Go look!
Day 4: Adulbae, Gina, and I cosplayed Durarara!! again and went to the gathering, which was pretty cool. I improvised props along the way, picking up trash cans and chairs on hand. It was pretty fun. We had a small photoshoot with Sojian, went to eat at Hydration and get boba teas, and then packed up (yay for late check-out!) and watched DRRR!! in the Fairmont lobby while we waited for Gina to pick us up and drive foreverrr to get back to LA.
Overall, I had a great time!! The venue was great, the people were great, and much fun was had~ Thank you sooooo much to Gina for driving, and all of my amazing and wonderful friends for cosplaying with me and stuff!!! <33333 I love you all! And I really missed those of you who couldn't make iiiiit! I'll see you at AX! /HUGS AND LOVE ♥
