He was glad to have Lupin back, really. It was much better than having anyone else teach it. He'd seen a lot of professors for this class come and go and Lupin was his favorite. Lupin's little this-is-hard-shit "pep-talk" hadn't really helped all that much.
When he asked for volunteers and no one else seemed like they wanted to move, he shot a look down the row at his three best friends before raising his hand.
Someone had to do it.

As he waited for Jake to come up to the front of the class room, he addressed the rest of the class. "Today we'll be working on non-verbal defensive spells. Being able to perform a spell without having to say its incantation is incredibly helpful in that, if duelling, your adversary will have less of an advantage of knowing what spell you've cast. Being able to do so might buy you seconds or even milliseconds which could guarantee your safety."
He turned back to Jake. "Now, Mr. Anderson, please curse, hex, or jinx me."

"Uh, really? Just-" His brow furrowed a little as he held his wand out. "Anything? And out loud?" The only thing he could even think of at the moment was stupefy.

He had his own wand out, but his stance was casual and her was twirling his wand cheerfully in his hands. "Whenever you're ready."

She looked forward to this class almost more than any other; she found it to be engaging and informative. She was already excited to see what he would do this class period.
"Now, Mr. Anderson, please curse, hex, or jinx me."
Oh. This would be interesting indeed! Great way to start off the new year. She watched intently waiting for what would follow.
