So you totally can do this, but you need to figure out how to set up your website email to forward to gmail - there should be some sort of email configuration panel somewhere, I think it will depend on your host. Then once it's forwarding, it's super easy to set gmail up so you can use your website email as a return address, instructions here.

Your webhost, when you log in to your administration page, should have an option to do that. After that, when you're using your g-mail, you'll be able to select your website e-mail.

The easiest option is to let gmail handle all your mail concerns directly. So instead of having email forwarded to gmail, it will just go to a gmail account directly. If that's an option, you can sign up Here-ish I believe.

To finish the setup you'll have to prove ownership of the domain (they walk you through this) and log in to your domain name registrar (appears to be Tucows) and change your DNS MX record to reference the gmail servers.

I haven't done this in a long time, but that's how I remember it working :-).

I third this recommendation. Google/Gmail has made me lazier, since I can have it handle my website emailing details and I don't have to bother with figuring out where in my hosting config area I'd do the same thing.

If you opt for having your site host to forward it, you'd have to follow a specific set of instructions they should have for you.
