Chapter 7
Today, as he usually did, Cho Kyuhyun stayed at the hospital, waiting for his boyfriend, Lee Sungmin, to wake up from his deep sleep. Ryeowook and Yesung were there too, chatting. He felt Sungmin’s hand twitch, but when he looked over to his eyes, they were still closed, so he shrugged it off. ‘It’s probably nothing,’ he thought. But Sungmin’s hands twitched again and he saw Sungmin’s eyes move behind his eyelids as they slowly fluttered open.
“Minnie…,” he called. This made Ryeowook and Yesung approach Sungmin’s bed, waiting for him to completely open his eyes.
“Minnie…,” Kyuhyun called again, holding his hands tightly.
“K-Kyu,” came a weak and hoarse voice from Lee Sungmin.
“I’ll get the doctor,” Yesung said, and he went out to get the doctor.
“I’ll bring water,” Ryeowook said, as he walked over to the table with the water.
“Kyu… why?” Sungmin said.
“Why what, Minnie?” Kyuhyun asked.
“Why is it so dark? Why can’t I see anything?” he said, and he tried to get up.
“Don’t move too much, Minnie… your legs are broken, so they have to be in casts for a while,” Kyuhyun whispered into Sungmin’s ear as he hugged him, and tried to calm him down because he was crying.
“I’m afraid, Kyu,” Sungmin whimpered.
“I’m here, Minnie...,” Kyuhyun comforted. Then Yesung came back with a doctor.
“Let me examine him,” the doctor said, as he approached Sungmin’s bed. Kyuhyun moved over a bit to make room for him, but his hand still held Sungmin’s hand tightly. The doctor asked Sungmin about how he felt, and Sungmin told him everything, including the fact he couldn’t see anything.
“We have to check him again tomorrow, just to find out whether this is temporary blindness or not,” the doctor explained. “Right now, he needs to rest, and don’t let him move too much, his legs are still healing.”
“When I can walk again?” Sungmin asked.
“Maybe in one month, if you don’t move too much,” the doctor answered. “Excuse me,” the doctor said, and left the room.
“Maybe we should go too, Wookie. He has to rest,” Yesung suggested.
“Yesung-hyung? Ryeowookie?” Sungmin said, looking over to where he thought Yesung was.
“Yes, we’re here. Ah! Kyu, I have something to tell you, can we talk outside?” Yesung said, and Kyuhyun nodded. When he was about to leave, Sungmin held his hand tighter.
“I’ll be gone for just a while,” Kyuhyun assured him. He looked at Sungmin’s face and he could see fear. “Ryeowook-hyung, can you hold Sungmin’s hand while I'm gone?”
“Okay,” Ryeowook agreed, and he grabbed ahold of Sungmin’s hand.
Outside Sungmin’s room
When they went out from Sungmin’s room, Yesung led Kyuhyun to a hallway that was far enough from Sungmin’s room. “Kyu, I think you should call Donghae and tell him that Sungmin is already awake,” Yesung said.
“I want to, but he’s in Japan at the moment,” Kyuhyun said. “I don’t want him to abandon his work like before.”
“Well, then you have to tell him that he doesn’t have to abandon his work again,” Yesung said. Kyuhyun nodded and pulled out his cell phone.
“Hello?”
“Donghae-hyung,” Kyuhyun said.
“Kyu? Did something happen?” Donghae said worriedly. Kyuhyun looked at Yesung, and Yesung just nodded his head.
“Ah, no hyung, I just wanted to tell you that Sungmin-hyung is already awake,” Kyuhyun said.
“Is he alright?”
“Um… he couldn't see anything when he woke up.”
“You mean he’s blind?”
“It seems so,” Kyuhyun said, “But we still don’t know if it’s permanent or not, so the doctor’s checking him again tomorrow.”
“Okay, I’ll return to Korea right now.”
“No hyung, you can’t just leave your business in Japan like that. It was your dream to have one, right?”
“But Kyu-”
“Besides, I haven’t told him about you. If you leave to see him right now, I know that he’ll be shocked.”
“Okay then, I will return to Korea when I finish working. You have to tell him about me, but make sure he’s not too surprised to know that I’ve already found him.”
“Okay hyung, I promise, bye,” and he hung up.
“So?” Yesung asked.
“He will return to Korea when he’s done with work,” Kyuhyun responded.
“That’s good,” Yesung said, as he patted Kyuhyun’s shoulder, and they returned to Sungmin’s room.
Inside Sungmin’s room
Right after Yesung and Kyuhyun left the room, Ryeowook helped Sungmin lie back down onto his bed and sat in the chair next to Sungmin’s bed, holding his hand.
“Why are you so quiet, Wookie?” Sungmin asked.
“I was just surprised to find out what happened to you,” Ryeowook said.
“You still want to remain friends with me, right? After what happened to me…”
“Of course hyung, we’ll still be friends after what happened to you. This accident won’t stand in the way of our friendship.”
“Does he still love me, even though I’m like this?”
“Hyung, don’t think like that ever again. Kyuhyun ran right over when he heard that the bus you were on was in an accident. He cried when the doctor told him that they lost you a few times. And when the doctor said that there was a chance you wouldn’t make it, he stayed by your side for these past 8 days, and he refused to leave you, even to eat. He loves you very much, hyung.”
“Thank you Wookie, I feel better now,” Sungmin said, and he yawned.
“You should rest, hyung.”
“No, I want t-”
“You are still healing, hyung, and you seem really tired, so sleep, hyung.” Sungmin nodded and closed his eyes, falling asleep.
After a few minutes, Kyuhyun came back with Yesung. Yesung and Ryeowook immediately excused themselves, but they promised Kyuhyun to come back again tomorrow. Kyuhyun sat next to Sungmin’s bed, holding his hands. He felt really tired today, so he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

When Sungmin woke up, he could feel someone holding his hand. “You’re awake?” Kyuhyun asked. Sungmin nodded his head.
“Kyu, what time is it?”
“It’s 7 p.m.,” he said. “It’s time for dinner.” Sungmin shook his head ‘no’. “Minnie… you haven’t eaten over these past 8 days, so eat, okay?” Kyuhyun said.
“But Kyu, I’m not hungry,” Sungmin said.
“Just a little, okay? I don’t want you to get sick,” Kyuhyun said. Sungmin nodded his head. “I’ll bring the food, alright? I’ll be back in just a few minutes,” Kyuhyun said, and he let go of Sungmin’s hand. Kyuhyun got up from his seat, and went to the table where the nurse put the food down on earlier. He brought it over and put the tray in front of Sungmin and started to feed him. After that, Kyuhyun put the tray back onto the table and sat next to Sungmin’s bed, going back to holding his hands.
“Minnie, I have something to tell you.”
“What is it, Kyu?”
“Do you remember a person named Lee Donghae?” Kyuhyun could see Sungmin’s eyes widen.
“W-why are you asking about it?”
“Just answer me, Minnie,” Kyuhyun squeezed Sungmin’s hand.
“He…,” Sungmin started, and Kyuhyun squeezed his hand harder, encouraging Sungmin to tell him everything. “He’s my brother.” Kyuhyun smiled when he heard this.
“I’m glad you still remember him.”
“Why are you asking about it?”
“I met him,” Kyuhyun said. “Ah! No, he came here the day after the accident. He searched for you for ten years, and he finally found you,” Sungmin’s eyes watered as he heard this.
“W-where is he?”
“He’s in Japan at the moment, working. But when he’s done with work, he’ll come back.”
“Oh…,” Sungmin felt a little disappointed, and Kyuhyun could tell.
“When I called him this afternoon to tell him that you woke up, he said he would come to Korea right away, but I stopped him because I didn’t want him to abandon his business again.”
“Again?”
“Yes, he was in China when his boyfriend told him that you got into an accident, and he came right away and abandoned his business,” Kyuhyun said. “He’s a successful businessman now.”
“I’m so proud of him,” Sungmin said. “When we were children, Donghae always dreamed being a businessman and building a lot of companies in the world. I’m glad that he was able to accomplish his dream.”
“What about you?”
“Hm?”
“Your dream when you were child.”
“I wanted to be a doctor, and buy a big house for my family. To live happily with my family.”
“That’s a good dream.”
“But I wasn't able to accomplish it.”
“You can live happily with me, and you can have a new dream about our future.”
“I do.”
“What is it?”
“I don’t want to tell you.”
“Tell me,” Kyuhyun said, getting up from his seat and tickling Sungmin.
“Kyu~ It tickles,” Sungmin said as he laughed.
“Tell me~,” Kyuhyun said. “Tell me or I will tickle you until you can’t breathe.”
“Okay… okay,” Sungmin gave up. Kyuhyun stopped tickling him. After a few minutes, Sungmin didn’t saying anything.
“Are you gonna tell me or not?” Kyuhyun asked. “Or I must tickle you again?”
“But it’s embarrassing,” Sungmin whined, “Promise me you won’t laugh.”
“I promise.”
“I want to be married to you, to live with you until death separates us. Maybe someday, we can adopt a child and become a happy family,” Sungmin said.
“I will try to fulfill your dream, I promise,” Kyuhyun said, and he kissed Sungmin gently. ‘Oh God, I missed his soft lips so much,’ Kyuhyun thought. The gentle kiss turned into a passionate one, showing how much they missed each other.
“I miss you, Minnie,” Kyuhyun said.
“Me too,” Sungmin said, and they kissed again.

Kyuhyun POV
It was still early in the morning, but the doctor already came and took Sungmin to the examination room. I stayed in the waiting room alone; Ryeowook-hyung and Yesung-hyung weren’t able to come this morning because they had to work, but they would come as soon as they were done. Donghae-hyung couldn’t come either because his work wasn’t finished, but he thinks he can return in 3 days.
An hour later, the doctor approached me. “How is it?” I asked.
“It’s temporary blindness. We think that it was caused from his head trauma.”
“So there’s a chance that he can see again?”
“Yes, there is. But we don’t know when it will happen; we have to wait.”
“Can I see him?”
“He’s in his room.”
“Thank you.”
I bowed and left for Sungmin’s room. When I came in, I could see that he was alone, clutching at his blanket. I knew that he was afraid; he was still not used to being blind. I came up to him and took his hand.
“Kyu?”
“Yes, Minnie.”
“Don’t leave me alone for too long.”
“I won’t. The doctor wanted to talk to me about you earlier.”
“So, what he did say?”
“He said that you’ll be able to see again someday because it’s temporary blindness. They think that it was because of your head trauma. But we have to wait; the doctor didn’t tell me when you can see again.”
“I’m afraid, Kyu.”
“I’m here, I won’t leave you. I will always be by your side, and take care of you until you can see again. I already requested time off from work for a while; Leeteuk-hyung told me that I could until you recover, so you wouldn’t be alone in our house.”
“Thank you, Kyu. I love you.”
“I love you too, Minnie.”
