Alright, I'm getting off the pop (coke/pepsi/mountain dew) addiction! At least I'll try my best. The problem is I have no idea how other than just not drinking it and it just doesn't sound like a good way. I need a substitute that I won't get addicted to, besides water or juice. I don't mind getting addicted to coffee. It would still be better than ( Read more... )

I'm not sure that trading soda in for coffee is necessarily the best avenue, especially if you're quitting soda for health reasons. Coffee still has caffeine in it.

Anyway, other recommendations... milk, water, tea (yum! zillions of variations), juice. In our supermarket's produce section they sell a brand called Ziegler (I think) which has apple cider and some variations. I tried their raspberry apple cider on a lark and I think it's great. It's also pure juice (I think) and one 8oz glass is equivalent to 2 apples in nutrients.

I've sworn off most soda, i.e. coke. Mostly because it's not particularly healthy, and I need to avoid caffeine for the most part. I do still have bottles of lemonade, which isn't all that healthy, but has no caffeine in it. Other than that I'm drinking a lot more water... a Brita filter jug is good if you have tap water that isn't very tasty, and it's much cheaper than buying bottled spring water.

I'm not sure, but I'm having a problem in my throat/mouth. It doesn't hurt, but I can't stay for an hour without having this acid-like taste and it just frustrates me. I don't know if it's caffeine or what that is causing it. :\ [Plus all this sugar in] pop is just not good, as you said, and I don't want to rot my teeth.

When I drink coffee, it's basically 1/3 coffee and 2/3 milk.
The problem is that I have this addiction that I need to be tasting something when I drink and water is just ..not very satisfying. :p

I might start on tea. Thank you though!
