4th Experiment

Hm. After doing some reading at the library, I'm a little perplexed. It's always the same formula for fairy tale stories. Knight meets princess, princess gets captured, knight goes to save the princess and defeats the horri~ble dragon and they all live happily ever after ( Read more... )

daddy used to read me stories, not like i care, lol humans

But it's a knight's duty to protect his princess! What fun is a story about a person failing to protect what he values most?

There's nothing wrong with a little surprise twist of an ending!

Or how about this? The knight turned out to be the villain all along!

No way! A knight would never be a villain. If he was a villain, then he can't really be a knight!

Muhaha! Then how about the princess becomes the hero instead and defeats the evil knight~?

W-Wouldn't a story be more satisfying if the knight wins despite the odds? That's what I think...

Hm... The knight must always win because he's the hero, correct?

Y-Yes! The knight must win because he is fighting for something good.

... Something good, huh? I've seen such acts of bravery before.

Plenty of people get killed by dragons... The only good stories are about the winners though.

I beat a dragon once.

[Well helped beat a dragon once... still no one else from his group was here.]

Really now? Then let's hear your amazing story.

It was eating people, it tried to put my friend in it's pant's, so I flew up and ripped it's finger off.

Then Aaron kinda went inside it and ripped its heart out...

But it knocked me through a building and I didn't even take a scratch.

[Crap... okay so he didn't kill it, he just fought it...]

Oho! A well played move by this Aaron! It sounds like you were only extra baggage for a majority of the fight.

I dunno. I like happy endings.

As expected of you. Still, have you ever read a story where the princess saves herself?

frogsicles May 23 2010, 06:03:16 UTC
What's that got to do with anything? A happy ending is a happy ending, and whoever saves the princess doesn't matter! As long as everyone is happy at the end of the story, I'm happy.

Geh...! I just don't understand these concepts of emotion within storytelling! If you read the same happy ending a thousand times, then surely you'd get bored of it!

A fan of realism, aren't you?

Realism? I suppose you could say that. I just expected differently from humans and their storytelling compared to the ones that I've heard from the Netherworld.

Stories are mostly told to entertain and instill morals. It's easier to do both of those things if the hero triumphs. It's childish, that's all.

Hmph! Where I'm from, such stories are told to install fear and amazement!
