In the United States, pistols are often kept in nightstands for easy access if roused from sleep by an intruder.

You probably threw that in there, Archer. Do you know how I know? Because real Americans keep their gun under their pillow. How exactly did you get onto the wikipedia on "nightstands," anyway?

Also, I think the bedpan part was incredibly informtaive. I've stored that away for future reference.
