Countee Cullen
A couple of years ago my little family and I moved to Baltimore, city of Poe, where the Star Spangled Banner was penned. A real blue collar town. I never saw so many lower-income White folk where I grew up in D.C. I really like this town. I am certain your visit here would be better than Cullen's. About 52% certain.

One riding in old Baltimore
Heart-filled, head-filled with glee,
I saw a Baltimorean
Keep looking straight at me.
Now I was eight and very small,
And he was no whit bigger,
And so I smiled, but he poked out
His tongue, and called me, "Nigger."
I saw the whole of Baltimore
From May until December;
Of all the things that happened there
That's all that I remember.
