got bored. liked the effect. so voila, icon tutorial.

go from
to
in PS7.

start off with your base, duplicate it and set that to screen at 94%. you can change the opacity at the end, depending on how bright/dark you want your icon to be.

make a new adjustment layer, selective color.

Red

cyan: -10
yellow: +100

Yellow
cyan: +100
yellow: -55

Neutrals
yellow: -11

fill a new layer with #8ECADA, and set it to Soft Light 100%.

fill another new layer with #98C9F6, and set it to Color Burn 70%.

make a new adjustment layer, Hue/Saturation.
set saturation to +57.

and your done! the little squares arent neccessary, i just added them for effect.

got any questions/comment/concerns, just leave a comment. i'd love to see what you come up with, too♥.

for PSP users, the selective coloring layer doesnt really matter. it just gets rid of a little bit of the blueness of the icon, and if you experiment, im pretty sure you could find ways to make it bluer, if you desire.

without the selective coloring, it looks like this;

not as blue, but a pretty effect none the less, no? you can mess around with other settings, PSP users, to try and get it more blue.

expect an icon post soon, everyone. sorry about the lack of them.
