The Sunday sales initiative
Well it appears that my fair city will get a say in whether retail stores will be allowed to sell liquor on Sunday. This has been an issue since the 1970's when Sunday Blue Laws, bans on establishments operating on Sunday's, were voted out. This Sunday is Mother's Day. As my own Mother is no longer with me and my brother and sisters, she is always in our thoughts and a constant presence in our life's journey. NIMBY!
NOT IN MY BACK YARD! It seems people in this town is very fond of expressing that. A recent idea to turn midtown park into a dog park has bought out the NIMBY in the area. Beaver's Music and Movies in Garden City closed last year. FYE at The Mall closed some time this year. There are no dedicated music stores in Savannah. And Video stores are following suit with Hollywood and Movie Gallery closing stores also. Blockbuster is still around, but for how long. Opening day?
6 games? Is that what the opening season of baseball has come down to? Okay, time was that Cincinnati, the oldest baseball club, traditionally opened the season alone on day 1.
