To riot or not to riot...

My daughter just came home crying from playing with friends. They were teasing her about us, her moms. She was so sad and I felt so angry. Why do I have to raise her in an enviroment like this? Why does this have to matter to other people? Right now I feel so ashamed, ashamed that she has to go through this because of me, of choices I make. It ( Read more... )

this blows.

the only thing i can say is that what other choice is there - don't raise kids just because those bigots will teach their kids to pick on them? the more rainbow families we have, the better things will be in the long haul.

the more we let bigots intimidate us and choose our family structures for us, the more those bigots win, and perpetuate a homophobic society. so... i just think you couldn't have made a better choice. growing up is always tough anyway, and this will not break resilient little ones. it's contributing toward social change for the better.

That's so sad. Don't be ashamed. You are doing nothing wrong. MILLIONS of children are orphans in the world, your daughter is being raised by parents.. she's so lucky...
