I dont think that that is neccessairly true " he cares more about oil than people" - I think its a rough choice whatever he makes - dont build refineries and we have gas prices shooting up even higher than you could imagine - build refineries and slow down the rebuilding process ( ... )

Yeah, people have a tendency to never give a damn unless the issue either hurts their pocketbook or, quite literally, makes them sick. Only a few people have the foresight to understand that there are very, very serious future implications with regard to how we go about our business. You know what, though? Nature will win this game, not us. I just hope that enough of us can manage to live through natures adaptations.

and another thing...

Bush would rather build a couple $30 million war-planes than improve some destroyed houses and feed the ever increasing homeless population in america...

True that. It's more important to be "secure" than to feed our poor, revamp our education system, or rebuild completely destroyed cities. Hold on a sec....

Also, doesn't it just make more sense to spend the ungodly amount of money that it will require to build those refineries and just funnel it into alternate energy supply research which is where we are ultimately going to wind up? Why aren't we taking the road that is going to hit us in the face in the future anyway? There really isn't a way to avoid dwindling supply, so it seems to me that it only makes sense to redirect our efforts into something that might last longer than 10 to 20 years. That's just me, though.

I've been saying that shit for years... stupid oil dependency's got America by the balls and if we don't act, America will reflect lady liberty in more ways than it ever did.
