These are coin scales in a wooden box. There are still the remains of a green velvet lining to the box. As well as a space to keep the scales and the pans,
there are two compartments for keeping the weights but these are now empty. Traders and business owners would use coin weights and scales to make
sure that they were not short-changed. These scales were sold by James Tallman from his shop on London Bridge.
In a 1633 survey of 38 shops on the bridge, most sold some form of clothing and the others haberdashery and stationery.
