We weren't planning to go, but when I got near the car we saw Daniel and he instructed us to go and play pool with him at the Friary.

Uck, i've been to the friary night before and it is the worst thing ever. Open mic nights always sound a lot better in theoty than they are in reality. Either people with no real talent play insipid versions of songs you've heard too many times before or (and this is far far worse), some idiot in a no-hope band decides to play his own songs on an acoustic whilst trying to instill them with some kind of feeling, ignoring the fact that the crowd would rather be anywhere else but listening to ramshackle half baked nonsensical crap.

Every now and then someone gets it right. However I don't think this will ever happen in the friary.
