6 AM: Wake up. Shower and dress in Aralis costume. Outside, it's looking like a nice day. Mom hands me coffee and observes that I look like a Disney heroine. I take a look around at Bethel, which has something like two streets

I'd recommend against travelling through Maine, though. It's arboreal paradise. Mile after mile of arboreal paradise. Mile after frickin' mile of ar-frickin'boreal frickin' paradiiiaaaaahhhHHHSHOOT ME NOW!

And yeah, I hear you. Maine is very pretty, a lot of the time, but oh my God there's a lot of it. Especially when you've gotten used to more compact states.

I mean, California is big, but you expect California to be big.

Speaking of perspective, I recall driving from DC to Boston one year and remarking to myself that it took me longer to get from my house to the mall that it did to cross some of those states. It was surreal.
