The UAW is the largest capital draw that GM has to contend with, particularly with regard to the amount it is required to pay for medical insurance for retired union workers. This is a situation that GM has been working to fix--as far as I know they've actually got a plan in place to shift that cost from GM to the UAW itself which will put them in much better standing
( ... )
Actually I forgot to mention, it was in the news yesterday that they seem to have reached an agreement with the UAW. From what I heard they dropped a bunch of benefits, cut salaries for new employees by a LOT, etc... but in exchange the union will run a company-paid fund for retired employees' medical insurance.
I like the P.T. Cruiser (maybe not as much now as when it was new)... When I asked about Chrysler to pegla he said PTs are the only Chrysler he ever sees on the roads in the Netherlands.
eh if you look at the history of Chrysler its been a long long line of losing auto makers it has its roots in failed auto companies.. Studebaker Rambler AMC to name a few .. cursed from the getgo. Chevy will live on even though it realy needs to trim the fat. Ford is ford.. I'm not a ford person myself but i cant argue with some of there vehicles. Ive always been a GM person and all i can say is they make a good automobile. and have always been kind to those that have a passion for there classic cars.
As you may know, we have a 1965 Ford Falcon back home in Mexico. Most reliable car ever :)
That's not a fair comparison though. The Corvette and the Mustang are in two different categories entirely, starting with the price (Mustangs start at $20K vs $50K for 'vettes)
The Corvette may be the only real sport American car, but it's got nothing to do next to European sport cars.
Personally, I didn't known the Mustang was that cheap. Over here, I've always heard it compared to the 'vette, but in light of your revelations, I will take it under advisement. I did have a friend who adored his Mustang II as the best car her ever had.
Does Ford make a car comparable to the 'vette in your opinion?
I agree with the Falcon, since I still see many of these on the road here too. I just want our Galaxy back.
All 3 of those have had factories in Mexico since the 70s or before. GM and Chrysler had them in Mexico city, in one of the most expensive parts of town (duh?), but have since came to their senses and relocated them to cheap, rural areas in other states.
You explain very well what I tried to, but failed. There's a group of people that can't get better jobs, and in the country where "anyone can make it big", there's really not that much room for them anymore.
Chrysler can go out of business for all I care, I got what I want out of them, and there are plenty of parts and other part cars to salvage when I need something. And besides, they have been threatening to kill the PT for the last couple of years anyways.
As for their reliablity, the only problems I have really had with my car was when something broke because I pushed it too hard. The quality of the cars has always been good with us.
What is killing the big three is the drag from the unions, what good is it to pay people who do not work? And what is really going to kill them is the fact they are producing gas guzzlers that people want, but the government/liberals do not want them to sell.
It just seems like 60% of your Hellcat posts are about something breaking on it (again), 30% are about car shows (and it typically doing well at those)... and 10% is probably the neighbor that was egging it, miscellaneous incidents in traffic and stuff :P
Considering that I have not done a car show in about year, I have not been able to write about that. And again, most of what breaks on my car is due to it being pushed way too hard. Also, keep in mind that my car has over 130k miles on it as well. Thank God that there has been no more egging incidents. -_-

The Mustang is a fast "regular" car
