Sixth Street
the summer fades and i can't bear to watch the leaves all die again
but all the time that i must spend in silence just needs to begin.
so let this dream die on my lips,
and let my heart slip into to stillness,
for every breath You breathed
and word You spoke, they're still a part of me.
the summer slows with heat and wind the autumn flowers bloom
and i don't want to be a martyr, i just want to love this view.
but i take my time just getting started
i take my breath in careful measure
and i'll take my steps according to my will
but something's got to give.
and the mountains wait just for a chance to get a word in edgewise
and all they say when once they're heard is, 'Praise.'
and so i will waste every breath i take on You.
for summer fades and autumn comes
and the leaves won't hide my shame.
so let them fall and as they crumble,
teach my how to praise.
