Alacrity

Everything is blindness
Silence is lightning
Waiting to strike again
Poised and ready
To stop a beating heart

I am blinded
But the flash is yet to come
The realization yet to be ascertained
As a smile parts your thinking lips
Letting light spill over
Across your teeth
Unmitigated by the dam
Of frustrated desires
I think about the blindness
Of the beast we call the tongue.

Lightning strikes against the window panes
That lead into my soul
And like a thief
You failed to enter
For the way was open
And no one cares to steal
What is freely offered.

So everything is blindness
Leading silence preceding
The strike that may not come
But the tension builds
And we grope for answers
Knowing the questions may never come.
