//Yer know,// Jono mused, picking at his guitar as he eyed the bright red bird who had been an unexpected flatmate for the past week, //I don't mind yer bein' a bird, Jean. Didi knew that about him; she wouldn't like him half as much if he did ask for help more easily.

"I wouldn't," she said. "Write it out so I don't screw up, but I like doing things for people."

"You told me," Didi said. She slouched back down to settle more comfortably against him. "Everyone there had powers, right?"

Jono nodded a little, his head not so much in the conversation now as it was focused on the fact that she was very pleasant to hold onto.

//Mutants, right. Safe place to practise our powers, and such.//

//I didn't give it much of a chance,// Jono confessed, in that sort of faraway tone that suggested that he wasn't paying much attention to the conversation at hand, himself. Just enough to make words happen. The bulk of his attention was on how warm she was, in his arms. How much he'd like to kiss her, only he couldn't, so he'd settle for holding her closer, still.

Close, but careful not to pull her too tightly against that not-quite-a-chest of his, at the same time.
