Some may remember my earlier post about replacing a motorcycle chain. Well, that was this weekend's activity. And will now be next weekend's activity, too

I feel your pain, spent many a nice weekend wishing I was riding instead of waiting for parts.
At least you found this stuff now in your own shop rather than somewhere on the open road where you have to pay someone else's time for these discoveries.
If it's any consolation, I've been in a similar situation most of this season. Had the bike picked up by the dealer... they did a bunch of work over the course of more than a week that didn't fix the problem. Posted on forums, people keep swearing it can't be what I think. So finally digging into it myself this weekend. We'll see. Of course I need the gaskets, the parts, etc., which are all 4x as expensive going through the dealer... which okay if it were a crankshaft then maybe... but for a generator stator or something? Probably not. ;P
(On the plus side, the chain cleaned up well, so I won't have your exact set of hassles here!)
