I had a sneaking suspicion that in light of recent events that something like this might happen. A good call, tho, since certain folks have been trying to use what goes on in here as a weapon to do REAL harm to people which, IMO, is really messed up. =/

Well, that and upon cross referencing the ban list, a bunch of people were still members and fully able to view posts. They just couldn't comment on them.

You have to go through and physically remove their membership. LJ is kind of dumb about it.

Don't know all of it but some people who have been banned from here for one reason or another where takeing info in comments and leaking it to FD_3 and other places and people.

so I think this was just patching up leaks due to livejournals odd ban system.

Correct. The person taking our posts, despite being banned, was completely able to have membership and view them.

Yeah that's so wonky, normally when a person banns someone you want them gone, completely.

Oh related... a friend of mine said wanted to join but her request was denied (possibly because her LJ account is too new and/or not used for anything else?). Is there a way I could vouch for her?

No-- apologies, I don't know what name she uses here or when she even applied. We hung out this weekend and mentioned it, if it's cool with you guys I'll ask her next I see her.
