2008 Year End Review

LOOOOOOOONG, so i cut so it wouldnt screw up your friends page :P

Well, it started off pretty bad. New Years Eve, I ate something that got me sick, so I started out the New Year sick. On top of that, I had gone to see a friend for new years, and was pushed aside and was made felt like I wasn’t welcome there. We ended up talking before I left, but I’m still not certain if that made things any better or worse.

School started a few weeks after. I started in the dorm and quickly was able to move into an apartment. This made me much more content. I no longer lived with someone that irrigated me, and smoked. I lived on my own and was able to have friends visit.

In February, I came home to Houston for a gaming convention. It was ok, but it was the weekend before I had several exams, so it was a mistake on my part, to go all weekend. So after the first round of exams, I was sitting at ok grades, I had average in two classes, above average in one, and had made a perfect score on the other. At the end of February I made the same mistake, but this time, it was more regrettable. I made two well below average grades on exams, the others where fine.

March, well spring break rolled around, and I found out a couple of days before hand that the plans I had made, where a no go. A friend, having some pity on me, invited me to his place for the week, saying he wouldn’t be doing anything, that week, but at least I wouldn’t spend it alone. Not really thinking about it, I accepted. He came and picked me up, and we drove back to his place Thursday night, because I had no class on Friday. Thursday night was fun, we went to Dave and Busters, and I met some new friends, said ‘Hi’ to some old ones, and generally had a good time. By Sunday night, I wanted to leave, again, like new years; I felt that I was unwanted company. I ended up having to stay and getting to see one more friend, before returning to College Station. The rest of spring break I was able to find some enjoyment in some gaming with a few ‘friends’ I have in College Station.

Then April came around, yet another gaming convention weekend, but this time no exams within sight, I was also able to gain a friend there, who I had known for a while, just came more acquainted with. The first person to come visit me, a friend for San Antonio came. He only stayed one night because he just wanted to get out of San Antonio and didn’t want to see his folks right then. He came; he brought his Wii with him, and we played videogames most of the evening, then he left the next morning after breakfast. Later that month another friend, who lives in Houston, but is never in town came to visit me. That was a nice change of place, it was right after my third round of exams in most of my classes, this went pretty much identical to the second round the last week of February. I gave him a nice tour of campus, which he seemed to really enjoy the traditions, and meaning behind a lot of the traditions at A&M. He was only able to stay most of 2 days, but it was very nice to see him. The end of April, my birthday, I invited the same friend who I had seen on new years and for spring break down, because we nearly share a birthday. The first day few days where fun, we played games and watched some movies. Then, again, he became distant, he went to someone else’s place, the night of my birthday, it was after midnight when he left, but it was still that night. After that, we did the same things, it just wasn’t the same. I almost told him to leave the night before his birthday. He didn’t seem to want to hang out with me anymore, but couldn’t do that to someone for their birthday.

He stayed until May first, and then went home. After he left, I had my finals, which actually went rather smoothly, compared to how other finals weeks had gone before. This also marks the first time I had shaved since February. It was kinda sad, how little hand grown. I got my grades, and was less than thrilled; I failed two classes, and got a ‘B’ and a ‘C’ in the other. So, now school was out, and I had an internship. However, my internship did not start until 2 June. I looked on the calendar and realized that I could make it up to Dallas for AKon without having to miss any work, or go up a day late. So, after returning home, where my internship was, I did very little to save money for Akon at the end of the month. I went up to Akon with some friends from high school, with no intention of staying with them and they knew that. I found some friends up there to stay with that I knew a bit better. While there, I was also able to rekindle a few friendships that had drifted. That made my weekend.

June came and past slowly, I was working from 7 to 5 every day, with weekends off. I was bored out of my mind at work, but I enjoyed being paid for doing something. One day I got an email from a friend, about going to the mall, and I was just like sure why not, and we went and met several of other locals for food and stuff at the mall.

July 4th weekend, a friend from out of town was driving through, and I had chatted with him and arranged to meet him for dinner out. By doing this, I consequently messed up his original plans, because it was too late for him to drive to where he was going originally. I apologies, but he had a backup plan to stay in Houston, which he did for the weekend. Later that month, I went to San Antonio for the last time this year, to say goodbye to that person, for he has not left the country for school. This time was much more enjoyable, I was able to hang out with him and all of my other friends in the area; this was also the weekend “The Dark Knight” came out, and I went to see that with several of my friends as well. I said good bye, gave hugs, and went home.

August was interesting. I needed to get away from home, because my parents were driving me nuts. So I messaged some of my friends up in Dallas, and ended up flying up there for the weekend. Had a lot of fun, the first night I was there we drank and watched movies. The second day, it was one of the guys aunts birthdays, so we all took her out to lunch and then to see “Mama Mia” which was awesome. Later that night, we again broke out the booze and watched some movies. Sunday, we all sobered up a bit chilled most of the day, until I had to hop on my fight home. It was a very enjoyable weekend, met some new friends while I was up there, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. At the end of the month, I had to quit my internship and return to school. Where I started the drag again. This semester, I liked all but one of my classes.

September, after my first round of exams, I was worried. One of my classes which I end up falling far behind in, and just never caught up, I ended up dropping before the end of the month. The other 3 classes I was worried about, but confident I could pull off decent grades. The third season of Heroes also started this month, me and two of my good friends in college station, got together nearly every Monday night, cooked for each other then watched, ranted and raved together, bout the show. Then one weekend there were plans for a gaming convention, but Ike happened. We still did end up gaming at my apartment this time. It was an enjoyable weekend, lots of rain, lots of wind, but we played and had a good time.

October came around, at this point in time, I was going through my second round of exams, and still worried about my classes, I had shown improvement, but not as much as I had desired. I then slowly began to loss myself, until one day, I just forgot. I forgot who I was and what I was doing at the time. It came back a couple hours later, but not something I was happy to have happen. Well, I ended up going to a Halloween masquerade thing, that I shaved at was made to look like a hobbit, I walked barefoot and all, all night.

November was an ok month, every little happened out of the ordinary all month long. I went to Thanks Giving like normal, with both sides of family. I did however, buy myself all the parts to build a new computer, and so far have enjoyed it very much. Thank you to those that helped me out with some of the choices. Its working great and I’m having no problems at all with it. My last round of exams left me iffy about how I was going to do for the year.

December, with finals I was toast. I knew at this point I was pretty much going to fail one of my classes. The other two I thought I was going to do ok in. Well I ended up not doing as ok as I would have hoped in one, and doing just fine in the other. When I found that out, I rushed straight up to school and talked with the profs, neither of them promised anything, but said they would think about it, I have no results on what they thought about as of yet. One night when I was out with a friend I had not seen in ages, which was a good night, but another friend who was from out of town called me. He had been drinking, and his driver’s car had been towed. My friend I was with was awesome enough to help him out, considering he had drove us both, and went as far out of his way, help them out. Then that Sunday, to thank the both of us, he took us out to lunch. Which was fun, and afterwards we went to the mall, which was a bad idea, but we still had fun while we were there. Since then Christmas has come, I got some gift cards, socks and some underwear, what I asked for. I’ve just been trying to chill around here, while taking this online course. Not much has been going on otherwise.

All and all, I thought it was a bad year, but after doing this, it started off pretty down, but it got better through out :)

This year, my goals are to:
• Lose some weight
• Do well in school
• Spend more time with good friends
• Be myself around more of my friends
