I just use regular latex, with a little liquid thickener added (check your local supplier, I get mine mail order from a company here in the UK). Pads WILL warp and shrink a bit as they cure, and usually take several days to do so; just add a bit more latex into the dip in the middle, but take care it doesn't slip down the sides, which may have pulled away from the plaster as they dry. You can speed up drying by gently heating; pop the mold with the wet latex in it onto/near a radiator.

Ah thats brilliant thanks, I was wondering if I was doing something drastically wrong :P
Am I right in asuming that you can add plain acrylic to the mixture to get whichever colour is desired?

yep, acrylic is fine for colouring. Oh, and I use Tiranti (www.tiranti.co.uk) for all my latex and thickeners; it's probably cheaper than buying from a craft shop, especially if you're using large amounts (we buy 5 litres at a time for about £20)
