All right, let's get this party started!

But first, a few words:

No matter how the competitors will finish in the tournament, every one of them is a winner. They get to be featured for a few days with other fursuits that they may never meet at a convention or other gathering. And most importantly, they're providing entertainment for this community. Keep this in mind when casting your votes, and feel free to follow some or all of the criteria listed below as well:

• Appearance. This goes well beyond which fursuit is cuter or sexier than the other. Was it well-constructed? Can you see the performer inside? Is there a unique physical attribute associated with the fursuit? Does it look good or out-of-place?
• Individuality. There are a little over 200 fursuits in this tournament and almost 2500 in the fursuit database. At that number, it gets harder and harder to stand out from the crowd! Does this fursuit stand out? Is he or she unique? Can you forget the character's name, but everyone knows who you are talking about anyway? Or better yet, are you unable to forget the character's name?
• Performance and Character. There are many wonderful fursuits out there that just get lost in the crowd because the performer has the personality of a pet rock. There are some fursuits that aren't eye-catching in photos but just jump to life when active and moving. Consider the effort the wearer takes to bring the character of the fursuit to life. Do they stay in character while in fursuit, or do they lose it way too often, letting you get to know more about the performer than the character they are portraying?
• Other Intangibles. Whatever floats your vote: friendships, species, awesome campaigning, promotional marketing, statistical analysis, personal preference, strategic matchups down the road, or vengeance for an earlier knockout.

A few other reminders:

• During the double-elimination portion, polls will be posted between 1pm and 5pm EDT, and will close at 23:59 EDT on the following day. With as little as 32 hours per session, every vote becomes that much more important for those last-minute comebacks.
• Ties in the first round will force three-way matchups in the winner's qualifier and the runner-up survival round. Unless there's a tie, the top vote getter in the winner's qualifier three-way will advance.
• Ties in the winner's qualifier will force three-way matchups in the seeding matches as well as in the runner-up qualifier. Ties in the runner-up rounds will be handled the same as in the single-elimination bracket, as the suits with the same leading scores will advance.
• In the single-elimination bracket, the same times mentioned above still apply, though with an added day per poll for the first four rounds and an added 4 days per poll in the final three rounds.
• To vote in the polls you must be logged in and a member of this community. If you want to join this community, click the massive link that is this entire sentence, and one of the maintainers (Rhett, Sarge, Seddel, or Stevie) will get around to approving you as quickly as possible. Be forewarned: due to the short poll durations in the double-elimination portion, you may not be able to vote until the next poll. In addition, blank LJs without a profile or other identifying information will not be granted memberships -- you don't have to use the account, but at least link to some website you do use.
• There's a fine line between campaigning for votes and attention-whoring spam. While we on staff would like to see good sportsmanship from everyone, irresponsible comments to the community will result in disciplinary action.
