Wow... what a thankless situation to be in... I can understand why some have declined to even be considered. (Also, the picture of the "pikas" is cute! ;-)

Perhaps a further reminder of the morass livejournal idol can be!

I like the way you seemed to take the “sudden death” descriptor of our write off as inspiration for your subject matter here. I really feel for the protagonist. That is the way work feels sometimes.

It seems like we have a lot of similarities, so it’s funny that we ended up in a write off here. We both like to do serials sometimes, and both have interest in sci fi and the outdoors.

Anyway, well met! I enjoyed your entry here and look forward to reading you more in the future whichever way the poll goes today.

I happened to read a comment from Gary that referred to Topic 23 as something like a doozy. Bowing out now may be a sanity saver. :o

Oops, sorry, that was me. (Tried to answer on my cell phone and, apparently, I'm not logged in from that.

And have you noticed, so far we're consistently getting the exact same number of votes.

Oh my gosh, if that's not a curse disguised as a blessing. Or something like that.

Also, I like the reappearance of the pikas! I remember them from some of your other entries!

Yes, I had fun revisiting them as well, I think I need to continue that story line.

I don't see how you can turn an entry around like this (twice), and come up with something this good!

Thank you! I'm really wondering how many people are seeing the parallel situation I created here. At least *I* am happy knowing that's embedded in my entry. Should I not move forward, I'll consider this my swan song.

Going back to review my Mars story to keep the details in sync, I was pleasantly surprised to see what I did last year. I am motivated to continue the story.

Thanks for all your support.

It sounds as if "Officer of the Year" is potentially more of a burden than an honor. Or maybe they go hand-in-hand. ;)

Yes, wrap anything onerous in the mantle of "success" and you will get volunteers every time!
